Open Letter To Mr. Romney…

Another Great Post from www.dailypaul.com

Dear Governer Romney,

NO candidate is more qualified to be president of the United States than Ron Paul and here’s why:

1. As a medical doctor who practiced BEFORE government intervention in health care (through Medicare and Medicaid), Dr. Paul is uniquely qualified to fix our broken health care system. He has explained to us that it was this very government tinkering with health care in the FIRST place which caused the out of control costs today.

2. As the only candidate remaining who actually served in the military during both cold and hot wars, Dr. Paul knows and understands when and how to use the military and when NOT to. He understands that today our military is used for many purposes OTHER than national defense.

3. As a many-times elected U.S. Congressman, Dr. Paul has been involved with and knows how the federal government operates from the inside and though he himself is a rock-solid principled man, it means he knows and can identify the dirty side of politics as well, having seen it first hand.

4. As a student and scholar of economics, Dr. Paul has said that it is not the job of the president to “run the economy.” It is the president’s job (as enumerated in the Constitution) only to PROTECT our liberty and rights as U.S. citizens, which in turn allows for a free market economy.

5. While some will note Dr. Paul’s age is an issue, I contend that never again in America’s history will we have the opportunity to elect someone who has lived through such historical events as the great depression, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, JFK assisination, end of the gold standard, all the way to the financial collapse of 2008 and beyond.

With all due respect Governor, even you must admit that your record cannot compare to the experience, wisdom, consistency, and dedication to the principles of liberty of Congressman Dr. Ron Paul.

So with these things in mind Mr. Romney, may I humbly suggest that you please step aside, endorse Ron Paul for the Republican nomination and pledge to help him win the presidency of the United States.

If you truly love America as you say you do, then this is your chance to help pave the way for a President Paul as our last best hope to Restore America Now.

Thank you.
Signed, a concerned American citizen.

Ron Paul is NOT Dropping out of the Race

Straight from Ron Paul Campaign

Thank you for volunteering and supporting Congressman Ron Paul for President!

Many of you have sacrificed your money, your homes (meeting and
events), resources and the most precious gift you have…your time.
Many of us have all been at this in California for since 2007 and we thank you.

If you have not already heard that The Ron Paul 2012 Campaign is not spending any money in Primaries at this time.
this does not mean he is dropping out of the race. Ron Paul is still on the ballot and the delegate process is still up for grabs in California.
As always and in all campaigns it is up to you the volunteers to make it happen.
I repeat he is not dropping out of the race (I got this straight  from Jesse Benton. )

The funds are just not there for news and TV ads but we are still going door to door and phoning the voters here in
California and elsewhere in the country and we still have plenty of materials to go around.
It has been by your efforts that we have the delegates going to Florida to vote for the only man who can take our country back for the brink.

In the last 20 days before the June 5th primary we will continue to push to take our political process. So tell all your friends

He is still in the race and your vote and their efforts count.

I will also release a list of names of liberty candidates throughout the state that are supporters of liberty.

I can still be reached at robertv@ronpaul2012,com or by my other email address robertwvaughn@aol.com
Please stick to campaign related issues on any email until after June 5th 2012.

We have 20 more days so don’t quit because Ron has not.

Winning Delegates from California
Californiais winners take-all primary by congressional district.
Meaning that, delegates awarded to the Republican National Convention
will be apportioned by the congressional district that Ron Paul wins.

Registering Republican

You must be a registered Republican by May 21, 2012 in order to vote
for Ron Paul for President! Ron Paul is on the Republican
ballot.  You must be a registered Republican to receive the Republican
ballot.  Registering new Ron Paul Republicans is the key to victory.
We all love good sign wave, but we gain no new voter.  We must
register new Republicans.  Voters who are not Republicans after May
21st cannot vote for Ron Paul!  Always have registration forms.  You
can get forms at your local county registrar, DMV, or post office.
You only have 6 more days to get them done and in the mail by May 21st.

RepublicanCountyCentral Committee

Liberty Republicans must restore the Republican Party!  County Central
Committees are the smallest political demographic and are founded in
the California Constitution.  The true Republican Party is the county
central committee.  The single largest victory Liberty Republicans
have had in California is our growing membership on county central
committees and the growing number of delegates to the state central
committee.  Help us continue our victory.
We are looking for Liberty Republicans to run in every county throughout
California in the coming years since the registration as passed for this
election cycle election for the next central committee begins again in
February 2014 but we need alternates as well right now.
If you have already been organizing and have a point person in your area,
have them contact us with the information at robertwvaughn@aol.com

CA Primary Flyer Instructions

Another Great post from Dailypaul.com forums

Below is what I wrote up for instructions on handing out the flyers. If anyone has thoughts on best uses or strategies for the banners and flyers, please post here.

California “Register for Peace” Flyers

When California’s legions of Ron Paul supporters head to the polls on June 5th, they will find that Ron Paul is not on their ballot – UNLESS they were registered Republican by May 21st! So we need to find all Ron Paul supporters who have not registered Republican and get them to do that! There are enough of us in California to do that, but WE HAVE NO TIME TO WASTE.

NOTE: If you are in California, best thing you can be doing for Ron Paul is helping your local Ron Paul meet-up groups with canvasing. But handing out postcards is good too – if you do both, you’ll be able to decide which is best. Whatever you choose to do, start doing it now!

The flyers (and banners) can be obtained here: https://registering-california.myshopify.com

INSTRUCTIONS FOR EFFECTIVELY USING THE FLYERS:

WHAT NOT TO DO:

Do not just hand the card to people. It’s ineffective and rude. (And I’m against leaving them on cars a well. Leaving them in stores with permission is fine, but face-to-face interaction is what will be most effective.) Do not get into a discussion about Ron Paul. We do not have time to be debating or commiserating. Dr. Paul has more than enough supporters in California to win. Our mission is to find them, let them know that they need to register Republican, and encourage them to do so now!

WHAT TO DO:

I think of it as a game where I have a limited amount of time to find as many Ron Paul supporters as I can in order to give them an important message. My secondary goal is that, with every interaction, I give people the impression that Ron Paul supporters as friendly and respectful. (which we are!)

I stand somewhere where there is a high volume of people, but where they are not rushing. For instance: farmer’s markets, parks, a lobby of a trade show, a fair, public transit stations, or even at street corners with steady flow of pedestrians.

When someone approaches …

I say: “Hi, are you a Ron Paul supporter?” I’m upbeat and give a big smile (Liberty is Fun!)  One time someone answered me: “No I don’t support him, but that smile might change my mind.” That’s what we want!

If they say “No, I don’t support Ron Paul”  Then I say something like: “Oh well. Okay.” I say it in a happy-go-lucky way, making it clear that I respect their opinion and realize it would be fruitless to try to change their mind. I let them be on their way. As a result, we just bonded because a potentially awkward situation was turned into a simple, friendly exchange. As they walk away, they should be thinking about how nice that Ron Paul supporter was, and be wondering why he was so happy!  [DONE!]

If they say “I’m not sure if I support Ron Paul.”  Then I say, “Well, the race isn’t over, and Ron Paul’s been doing really well lately. It’s going to come down to California – so I hope you decide to support him!” I do NOT say you have to register Republican because that’s an immediate turn off. Instead, I hand them the card with the text up, so the first thing they see is “How far would you go for Peace?”  [DONE!]

If they say “Yes, I love Ron Paul.” Then I cut right to the chase and say,
“Do you know that to vote for him on June 5th, you need to be registered Republican?”

[If they respond, “Yes, I’m registered.” (with no mention of “Republican”) you MUST follow up by saying “But are you registered Republican?” Half the people will have assumed you were only asking if they were registered to vote.]

If they say “Yes, I’m registered Republican.”: Then we have a quick “Go Ron Paul!” moment, I stress how it’s going to come down to California, and I end by suggesting that they put June 5th in their phone calendar right now.  [Done!]

If they ask “Do I need to register Republican??” or say “I don’t need to register Republican!!” Then I act like that’s the answer I was expecting and explain that when California switched to an Open Primary, it did not apply to the Presidential portion. I say there is much confusion about it, which is why I’m here letting people know. I then hand them a postcard and point out the web site where you fill out the simple form online, print it, and send it in – I tell them to hurry because the elections office must have received the form by May 21st. (And ideally, I will have actual voter registration cards to hand them to take home, and a clipboard, if they are willing to fill it out right there.) [Done!]

If they say, “I won’t register Republican.” Then I say, “I totally understand. But I hope you think about it because Ron Paul is our one chance for a peace candidate. After the primary, you can re-register back.” I then hand them a card, with the text side up, and let them go. If it feels right, I’ll blurt out “Vote your Heart, not your Party!” – as a hopeful request, not a preaching command. [Done!]

That’s it. Short and sweet. Most interactions can take place in the time it takes for the light to turn green!

You will of course encounter some rejection or scorn. We can handle it.  But as long as you are friendly, the typical reaction will either be non-supporters who respect your commitment, or Ron Paul supporters who will be full of gratitude for what you are doing. The later will happen quite often, and it’s AWESOME!

BUT THERE IS NO TIME TO LOSE. May 21st is a Monday, so these registrations should be mailed in by May 18th! (After that, hand deliver them to your County Elections Office.)

California has been handed the baton of liberty, and we have just a few weeks to run with it.

GO, GO, GO!!!!

“The Ron Paul Supporters Creed”

Saw this posted in comments of a Ron Paul article and thought it was great…

Hello For republican party, The Party is over.
THE RON PAUL SUPPORTERS CREED.
Here is your deal:

Pay attention Republican Party and Voters.

I am a Ron Paul supporter. This election season, no candidate will.
get my vote for the Office of President of the United States of America.
except for Ron Paul. There will be no exceptions. If he does not win the.
nomination, I will write his name on the ballot.

No amount of slick talking, flip-flopping, wooing, cajoling,
threatening, or condescending will persuade me to vote for any other.
contender for that office.

You don’t want to admit it, but you know that the Republican Party.
cannot beat Obama without me, a Ron Paul supporter. It’s long past time.
you admit it.

You and I have conflicting goals. I will only cast a vote for.
liberty, for peace, for small government, for fiscal sanity and respect.
for the Constitution of the United States and adherence to the oath of.
office of the Presidency. You however are content merely to vote for.
whatever Republican the GOP leadership and the media approve of.

I will not move. I cannot be persuaded. You cannot win without me.

I am not here to convince you that Ron Paul’s positions are superior.
I am not here to convince you that his foreign policy is in line with.
traditional conservatism. I am not here to convince you that his.
understanding of economics put everyone else in Washington to shame. I
am not even here to convince you that the positions of the other.
candidates are not materially different than Obama.

No, I don’t need to do any of that. I only need to tell you that.
without me, you have lost. If you do not vote for Ron Paul in your.
Primary or Caucus, you are already defeated. If you fail to nominate Ron Paul to be the Republican candidate for President, Barack Hussein Obama will serve a second term.

This is not blackmail. This is not a threat. This is a simple statement of fact.

I stand firm and I will not accept anything less.Ron Paul 2012.

~If you agree with this post this on other sites and encourage others.
to help make it go viral so the message is clear to the GOP.

Actually, Mitt Romney is secretly winning a lot FEWER delegates than you think

(Copied from this Dailypaul.com post)

Actually, Mitt Romney is secretly winning a lot FEWER delegates than you think

It’s not just about Romney losing the upcoming contests, its also about him losing the delegates he supposedly already has…

(Check out my previous post: #RonPaul upset in the works! for a past update on the delegate breakdown )

The Mainstream Media and political bigwigs in both parties have declared Mitt Romney the presumptive GOP nominee. This “presumptive” declaration is at best premature when even favorable estimates have Romney hundreds of delegates short of reaching the magic number of 1,144 delegates required to win the Republican nomination.

Romney needs about 300 more delegates from the remaining 14 contests to claim the nomination.

There is a final charge being mounted by the anti-Romney, pro-Paul alliance to make sure Romney does not reach the 1,144 by contesting the last 14 states or by winning hundreds of delegates in states he’s supposedly already won.

(Read more here for the breakdown)

Various published Romney delegate counts are as follows:

CNN 841 (SOURCE: CNN.com)

AP/NYT 847 (SOURCE: AP/NYT GOP Primary Page)

The Green Papers 869 (SOURCE: TheGreenPapers.com)

Recent events, however, indicate that some of Romney’s supposed delegate wins may not be as secure as once thought. This past week, county delegate nominating conventions in Iowa, Minnesota and Colorado were swept by Ron Paul supporters (and anti-Romney activists) leaving Romney with fewer delegates than expected and in the case of Iowa no expectation of delegates whatsoever (SOURCE: PolicyMic).

Clearly, the resistance to Romney’s potential candidacy is mounting a final two-front challenge not only in the upcoming 14 contests taking place next week through June but also in the county and state delegate nominating conventions scheduled through mid-July in 30 states that have already held their primary or caucus (SOURCE: Wikipedia).

In case you were not paying attention:

Romney can lose delegates.

Take a look at Iowa for example, CNN reports Romney to have won at least 7 delegates but in reality Paul supporters have taken the state GOP over and with it the RNC superdelegates (also known as RNC delegates) of chair and vice-chair. Furthermore, Paul supporters are expected to sweep the remaining state delegation slots for Paul in the upcoming state convention coming out of Iowa (SOURCE: IB Times).

In another twist to this scenario, the Massachusetts delegation, a supposedly safe Romney territory, was swept by Paul supporters in district conventions (SOURCE: PolicyMic). Despite the fact that these delegates are bound to vote for Romney in the first round of the convention there is much talk about the ability to vote “abstain” and not offer any support to any candidate in the hopes of forcing a brokered convention.

Four years ago, John McCain was not well liked by many in the grassroots and delegates with that sentiment showed their displeasure by voting “abstain” (SOURCE: Wikipedia). It may well turn out to be that a large number of anti-Romney delegates will have made it into the convention and will nullify this entire election cycle by forcing a brokered convention using this tactic.

In response to this existential threat, the Romney campaign has ordered draconian measures on Republican conventions that would clearly be overtaken by anti-Romney parties and continue their work to attain high percentage, primary wins in the remaining 14 contests (Source: Romney Hawks Believe in Ron Paul Threat).

Measures to combat insurgent grassroots locally have seen conventions canceled and SWAT teams used to break up gatherings as well as exorbitant fees charged to either delay bad outcomes or weaken grassroots resolve: (SOURCES: Washington Cancels Convention Just Before Voting, Missouri SWAT sent to MO Caucus, Alaska GOP charges last minute convention fee, then refuses to collect payment.

The name of the game being played is PERCEPTION.

The Romney campaign must maintain the perception of its inevitability or else lose precious momentum to the anti-Romney, pro-Paul alliance whose goal is to force a brokered convention.

At a brokered convention, anything can happen.

In 1920, Warren Harding won a brokered convention starting with the least number of bound delegates. He went on to win by a landslide in the general election. Ron Paul has been compared to a present-day Warren Harding (Source: EPJ).

The Romney campaign has also relied on an election schedule packed with winner-take-all contests in relatively friendly states in order to maintain the PERCEPTION of the presumptive nominee.

In what could be a twist of fate, only 4 of the final 14 contests remaining are winner-take-all. This could cause a number of Romney campaign election stumbles in the coming weeks potentially crippling their chances.

This past Saturday, for instance, Ron Paul won the Louisiana caucus with 74% of the vote (Source: Sun Herald). A minor hiccup for the Romney campaign but a potential speed bump as the delegate fight continues forward. However, at the same time, the Alaska GOP was firmly taken over by Ron Paul supporters (allied with activists close to Sarah Palin who has never endorsed Romney) (Source: AK GOP New Chair supports Ron Paul).

Deciding Factor: Next week’s contests in Indiana, West Virginia and Oregon will be the first indication of a coalescing anti-Romney, pro-Paul alliance that will continue the fight in the following 11 contests and also in a potential brokered convention.

There are many questions to be answered in the next coming weeks:

How many more state GOPs will be overtaken by Ron Paul supporters?

How many more delegations will be won by the anti-Romney, pro-Paul alliance?

How will the Romney campaign and the Mainstream Media continue to push the idea of the presumptive nominee?

How will the media and political establishment ultimately react to the image of the presumptive nominee slowly being chipped away by the change in political winds?

Whatever happens in the upcoming weeks, this is a turning point in the history of the Republican Party and ultimately the United States and the world.

Amicus libertatis

The facts about delegates in California

California is a Winner-Take-All *per* congressional district and a closed presidential primary or should i say an open primary for everything on every level of voting *except* when it comes to the presidency.

California has 172 delegates on the line, 53 congressional districts, each district gets 3 delegates (3×53=159), 10 at-large delegates going to the overall winner of the state, and 3 delegates (technically unbound) go to top Republican members; the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the California’s Republican Party.

Win a District and get those 3 delegates period. Delegates are picked by the campaign of the district winner, RP himself could pick them personally i suppose if he wanted. No county convention, no state convention, only the RNC (no practice *sad face*). Who the delegates are bound to for 2 rounds of votes at the RNC is purely based on popular vote of each district.
